Happy New Pressure?

So its the start of a new year, and with my positive pants folded neatly and ready to wear I cannot help but to feel anxious and at first I couldn't understand why, after having a cry over Chinese food and shedding tears over something else even more pathetic (I will not embarrass myself) I realise my anxiety is 110% down to the pressure that the New Year brings!

The pressure to become more successful, see more of the world, own a bigger house, earn more, and even look better!

The pressure is real..

I sit scrolling on Instagram and it dawns on me we are all under the exact same pressure, we all have our very own definition of success and happiness… its not a race, its not a competition, it is simply our journey.

Some people want to travel the world, some want to save lives, some want to start a family, and some want to leave a dent on the world that they will be remembered for.

I then remind myself of a post I read years ago about the ‘law of attraction’  - for those who don't know what it means I have attached the definition below -

the Law of Attraction is the belief that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, people can bring positive or negative experiences into their life. The belief is based on the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and that through the process of like energy attracting like energy a person can improve their own health, wealth, and personal relationships.

I remember reading the above before I set up my first salon and to say the odds were against me back then would be an understatement, but looking back I managed and ran the salon successfully of many years before downsizing and selling due to my health. But the point of the matter is that I clearly remember using positivity to drive my ambition.

It makes me think that together we are all small mechanisms of a huge billion pound industry and through hard work, positivity, and concentrating on our goals together we could all leave a legacy, it could be our generation that sets new standards in the industry and move it like its never been moved before…

Setting NEW standards in hygiene and taking pride in our skills and craft, and finally highlighting that becoming a Beauty Professional is not a ‘high school drop out’ career choice but a fully fledged career path.

Now I'm not suggesting we do this over night and I'm fairly sure we are likely to need lots of cake and Yorkshire Tea but the dream is certainly there and together I really do believe we can set NEW industry standards together.

Pop on your positive pants - we have got this!

Sending love from Sheffield
